Eng 11 and SS11 - Today we had a catch-up day, students completed incompleted assignments for me or studied - BIG MODULE THREE TEST THUR IN SS. This means chapters 6-8 in your textbook, e-mail me if you need a copy of the study giude and I can e-mail you a copy.

Last day for catch-up is Friday, then we are on Vacation and back on Jan 3 to prepare for provincials and conclude big assignments.

Eng 11 - today in english class we watched Act II of "Macbeth" and then completed questions for marks.

SS11 - Today we went through the rest of Chapt 8 and filled in the PPT blanks (ws). Monday we are going on a field trip, so be to school by 9am, we'll be back from the Parliament buildings by 11:30am.

Eng 11 - Today we watched Act 1 of Macbeth and then moved on to discuss act 2 and then read the comic book for act 2.

SS11 - Today we started chapter 8, I lectured and students took notes.

Eng 11 - Today we started the Macbeth unit, we read Act 1 cole's notes and read Act 1 in the comic book, then answered 9 questions (homework).

SS 11 - Today we completed Chpt 7, then watched a video on residential schools and then went into the computer lab and reviewed a CBC site on residential schools and answered 8 questions.

Tomorrow, Act 2 in Eng and Chpt 8 in SS.

Eng 11 - Today in English we spent time in the computer lab completing our song / poem analysis assignments.

SS11 - Today in SS11 we completed the module two test (chpts 2-5).

Eng 11 - Today in English class we started our poem / lyric assignment (find a song, print off the lyrics, tell me the meaning and theme and then find two figurative devices and explain them).

SS11 - In socials we finished WWII and then watched a video on the holocaust. Thursday we will do the module two test Chpts 2-5.

Today in Eng 11 class we wrote a poetry quiz, then wrote a couple of fun poems. This will be the final week for poetry.

Then in SS11 we went through Chpt5 "Dieppe" and "D Day". No new assignment this week as we are finishing Chpt 5 WWII and then having our module 2 test on Thursday.

* It would be good if people came in this Friday for catch-up, I will be availabel from 9-3pm.

Today in Eng 11 we went through a poetry handout on"types" of poetry and "devices" found in poetry. Then we wrote two poems: colour poem and autobiographical poem.

Today in SS11 we went through the first few pages of chapter 5 WWII.

Eng 11 - Today we started our poetry unit, we reviewed three poems and started on a lyrical poem with a partner.

SS11 - Today we finished Chapter 4 which was about how Hitler came to power (lecture and notes). Students then receieved the chapter 5 assignment - annotated timeline.

Eng 11 - Today in English we completed our book reports, Monday we will begin our poetry unit. I will be at school from 9-3 tomorrow if anyone wants to come in and complete their book report with me.

SS 11 - Today in SS we finished chapter 4 - The Depression. On Monday we will start with WWII and Hitlers rise to power. Chapter 4 work is due on Monday and chapter 3 work is LATE, please come in tomorrow and catch-up.

Eng 11 - In English class today we started our book reports. I have a detailed outline that you will follow in order to complete the report. I gave you time today and I will give you the class on Thursday as well.

SS11 - Today in SS we went through about half of chapter 4. We will conclude chapter 4 on Thursday, and I hope most students come in on Friday to complete their chapter 3 and 4 assignments.

Eng 11 - Today in Eng we went over dialogue and point of view, then we took a comic strip and put it in any order and wrote a short story based on what we saw. There needed to be three examples of dialogue used in it.

SS11 - Today we concluded WW1 and started Chpt 3. I collected chpt 2 and handed out chpt 3 assignments.

Eng 11 - Today we chose a picture and wrote a detailed / descriptive paragraph, each student was to describe the picture in such detail that when I read their paragraph I got the picture of what they were referencing in my head.

SS11 - Today we went through the second half of WW1 in Chapt 2, we will start chapter 3 on Monday.

Eng 11 - Today we completed a quick short story - review of plot. Once this was done we watched an episode of "The Office" and compled and assignment on direct and indirect characterization.

Eng 11 - Today we read a short story and pulled it apart looking at all the elements of plot. Next we read another and filled in a plot outline, then wrote a short story of our own.

SS 11 - Today in SS we reviewed how WW1 started, we looked at a map of europe, went through the first year of WW1 and then watched a video clip about the events. (Chapt 2 assignment due in one week).

Eng 11 - Today in English we went through plot, setting and mood for short stories. Then, we read three short stories and outlined the elements of plot. Finally, everyone wrote in their journals: started a short story, just focusing on the intro and all the essential elements.

SS11 - I went over test scores (come see me Friday if you missed last days test) and gave out the next chpater assignment (Chpt 2). After this I lectured chapter one and started chapter two, this is all about WW1 "The Great War".

To date I need: Chpt 9, 10, 11, and 12 assignments and module one test /36 mark test.

Eng 11 - Today we read our novels and then completed a worksheet on punctuation (editing practice). Next we went to the lab and completed our essays, those who were done studied for the SS11 test.

Eng 11 - Today we typed the good copies of our expository essays - 20 more minutes on Tuesday. This is a 5 paragraph essay where you tell me about something, you choose the topic, I am looking for structure (intro, main body paragraphs, a conclusion, topic sentences and a thesis).

SS11 - In Socials today I finished lecturing chapt 12, then we completed assignments and studied. Module one test is Tuesday, chpt 9-12!!!

Eng 11 - Today in Eng we completed an Expository essay outline (50 marks). An expository essay is where you tell me about something. With the outline I need to see:

Intro - Hook and thesis
3 Main body paragraphs - Topic Sentence and 2 examples that support each.
Conclusion - Reiteration of thesis and summary

Thursday we will work on our good copies in the lab.

SS11 - Today we quickly went through the rest of Chapter 12 and then had our pictures done - picture day! We will finish Chapt 12 on Thursday and then study - Test Tuesday (no school monday because it is Thanks Giving).

SS11 - we concluded chapter 11 and then enjoyed some delicious birthday cake.

Eng 11 - Today we read our novels, went through what process paragraphs are, completed a journal entry and then worked on Capital letter usage (worksheet to be done).

SS11 - In SS class today I went through half of Chpt 11 and then students wrote me a paragraph on what they thought should happen to murders since the death penalty is not an option ....
Remember: I need chapter 9 and 10 work by Friday or else I will be contacting parents, as well I will need chapt 11 work on Monday!

SS11 - Today in SS11 class you handed in your Chapt 10 and 9 work then I distributed chapt 11 work - please see me for this handout. Also, chpt 11 work will be due one week today! Once this was done I lectured the last few pages from chapt 9 and the first bit from chapter 11.

SS11 - Today in SS11 we went through the beginning of Chpt 9 and legislative branch of government. The class took notes and then completed a cross word. In addition to this I collected your chapt 10 assignments and gave our chapt 9 assignments (Due next Monday).

Eng 11 - Today in English we read our novels then read a current event on the teacher situation (phase one job action). As a group we summarized it and each person provided their own opinion.

SS11 - Today in SS11 we completed DPA calendars, started notes for Chpt 9, and did a chpt 10 review matching WS.

Eng 11 - Today we read, did a free write (a paragarph on anything so long as it involved description) that was not collected, then we reviewed commonly misspelled words (worksheet) and finished our autobiography assignments.
SS 11 - Today in SS 11 everyone took notes as I finished up chapter 10. Remember I am in my classroom on Friday if you want help completing your assignment which is due Tuesday.

Sept 12

Eng 11 - Today we read from our novels, then started an autobiographical assignment. You were asked to write a paragraph about yourself and then draw me a picture of yourself or make a collage that represents you.

SS11 - Today you recived your first assignment (chpt 10) that is due in one week. Then I read / discussed the first 10 pages in Chpt 10 and you took notes in your keystone book.

Eng 11 - today in English 11 you picked out your novel, and then I gave you a few minutes to read it, remember that you have one and a half months to read a novel then do a book report. Next we reviewed your orientation assignments, that I handed back with feedback, and then we proceeded to the computer lab so you could type them out in good copy.

SS11 - today in SS11 you completed a map on Canada, completed five questions, and wrote an orientation assignment. The orientation assignment asked you to write a paragraph, as if you were a kid in a underdeveloped country. You were supposed to give yourself a name, and then talk about what your life is like: living quarters, family make up, transoportation, education, work, community etc.

Welcome back, today was pretty casual, we did introductions and then received outlines for both Eng 11 and SS11. In English 11 we completed an orientation assignment, which consisted of writing a short story about anything you chose. This is due no later than Thursday. In SS11 we shared information about ourselves and then made artistic name tags for our tables. See everyone Thursday!

Today in Eng 11 we started our expository essays. We will complete them in Thursdays english class. (away today - Danielle, Garrett, TJ, Brianne, and Jessica)

Next Thursday is parent teacher interview day, so it is only a half day - morning classes only.

Eng 11 - In Eng today we read our novels and reviewed what went into a paragraph. Then we did an open journal writing exercise, description needed to be included. (Away - Max, Garrett, TJ, Gillian, Paige, and Tyler).

SS11 - In SS11 today we went over Prov vs Fed differences and then completed a tree diagram on our political structure, and then created our own political party. (Away today - Jeremy, TJ, Ben, Kilian, Gillian, Paige and Brian).

Eng 11 - Today on Eng we watched Act one in Macbeth and then answered Act one questions. To conclude class we went through Cole's notes for Act II. (Away today were Brianne, and Brittany).

SS11 - Today in SS we went through Chapter 6 and then completed a true / false worksheet and a chapter 6 review worksheet. (Away today were Cole, Brian, Kelly, Krista, and Jackson).
